A Certificate of Citizenship (Form N-600) is official proof of U.S. citizenship for children born abroad or adopted by U.S. citizens. Parents can apply for this certificate on behalf of their minor child.


Application Fees

  • Application Fee: $1,170

    (Payment can be made by money order, personal check, cashier's check, or credit card)

Processing Time

  • Approximately 5 to 8 months to receive the Certificate of Citizenship After Filing.

     

  • Children under 14 may not need to take the Oath of Allegiance.
  • Upon approval, USCIS will mail the Certificate of Citizenship.
  • A child may also be eligible for derived citizenship if they meet the criteria and at least one parent is a U.S. citizen.
